DID YOU KNOW?  -- Three years before the 1995 Srebrenica Genocide, Serbs torched Bosniak villages and killed at least 3,166 Bosniaks around Srebrenica. In 1993, the UN described the besieged situation in Srebrenica as a "slow-motion process of genocide." In July 1995, Serbs forcibly expelled 25,000 Bosniaks, brutally raped many women and girls, and systematically killed 8,000+ men and boys (DNA confirmed).

SREBRENICA SUSPECTS OSTOJA STANISIC & MARKO MILOSEVIC ARRESTED

Prosecutors say police have detained two men suspected of involvement in the killing of some 1,000 male Muslim Bosniak residents of Srebrenica at the end of Bosnia’s 1992-95 war.

A statement from the prosecutor’s office said Thursday that former Bosnian Serb commander Ostoja Stanisic, 60, and his deputy Marko Milosevic, 58, were detained Thursday in the area of Zvornik, in eastern Bosnia.

They are accused of participating in the killing of some 1,000 of the 8,000 Bosniak men and boys, who were executed over a few days after Serb forces overran the eastern town of Srebrenica in July 1995, in what was the worst massacre of civilians on European soil after World War II. An international court said the massacre was an act of genocide.

The men are suspected of committing crimes in the area near the Petkovci dam in the village of Djurici, where around 1,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys from Srebrenica were executed in July 1995, the office said.

Bosnian police said they had seized a large cache of weapons and ammunition during raids at several locations near Zvornik after the arrests.

Bosnian Serb wartime leader Radovan Karadzic and Mladic are indicted of genocide in several Bosnian municipalities and their trials are under way at the U.N. International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague.
