DID YOU KNOW?  -- Three years before the 1995 Srebrenica Genocide, Serbs torched Bosniak villages and killed at least 3,166 Bosniaks around Srebrenica. In 1993, the UN described the besieged situation in Srebrenica as a "slow-motion process of genocide." In July 1995, Serbs forcibly expelled 25,000 Bosniaks, brutally raped many women and girls, and systematically killed 8,000+ men and boys (DNA confirmed).

15TH ANNIVERSARY OF SREBRENICA GENOCIDE

US President Barack Obama honored victims of the Srebrenica genocide, Europe's single largest killing since the Holocaust: "On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the genocide at Srebrenica, and on behalf of the United States, I join my voice with those who are gathered to mourn a great loss and to reflect on an unimaginable tragedy." He added that the Srebrenica genocide was a "stain on our collective conscience."

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stated: "I join President Obama and the people of the United States in offering our deepest condolences on this most solemn occasion. We honor the memories of the victims and mourn with their families."

Some 60,000 came to pay respect to 775 newly identified Srebrenica genocide victims, today. The youngest victim buried Sunday was 14, the oldest 78, joining nearly 4,000 already buried at the memorial center. All the bodies had been excavated from mass graves and identified through DNA tests. Another 1,844 victims have been identified, but their skeletons consist only of a few bones and relatives are refusing to bury them before more fragments are found. Hatidza Mahmetovic
buried her husband and two sons, aged 18 and 21 when they were killed. One of his sons is being buried without his head, while the other son's missing body parts are his arms and his legs.
