DID YOU KNOW?  -- Three years before the 1995 Srebrenica Genocide, Serbs torched Bosniak villages and killed at least 3,166 Bosniaks around Srebrenica. In 1993, the UN described the besieged situation in Srebrenica as a "slow-motion process of genocide." In July 1995, Serbs forcibly expelled 25,000 Bosniaks, brutally raped many women and girls, and systematically killed 8,000+ men and boys (DNA confirmed).

GOOD NEWS: HOLOCAUST DENIER JAILED

GOOD DAY FOR THE WORLD: HOLOCAUST DENIER, DAVID IRVING, JAILED

Today, self-taught British 'historian' - David Irving - has been convicted in Austria of denying the Holocaust and sentenced to three years in prison. David Irving pleaded guilty to the charge, based on a speech and interview he gave in 1989.
.
He insisted: "I deny that I'm a Holocaust denier. This is a filthy smear....I've never been a Holocaust denier and I get very angry when I'm called a Holocaust denier"
.
He reminded me of Diana Johnstone and Noam Chomsky who both denied that they were Srebrenica Genocide deniers (related link) even after they publicly denied Srebrenica Genocide of around 8,100 Bosniaks.
.
During his testimony, Irving said: "I made a mistake when I said there were no gas chambers at Auschwitz," at one point expressing sorrow "for all the innocent people who died during the Second World War." Well, I am sure that his sorrow is the last thing millions of poor victims need to get from him.
.
In his vast written publications about the Holocaust, David Irving claimed that until late 1943, Hitler knew nothing of the Holocaust and that he never gave the order for the annihilation of Europe's Jews. He offered £1,000 to anyone who could produce a written document showing that Hitler had given such an order. His 'reward' reminded me of Jared Israel - one of the most offensive Srebrenica Genocide deniers and one of the most vocal Slobodan Milosevic apologists. Jared Israel offered to pay $500 to anyone who can show that Communist dictator "Slobodan Milosevic made a racist statement in any speech or interview at any time."
.
Although Holocaust and Genocide denials are currently illegal in Canada, Genocide denials are rarely (if ever) challenged in Canadian courtrooms (at least, I am not aware of any case or cases where Genocide denial was challenged in a Canadian courtroom. Do you?).
.
There were many opportunities where Srebrenica Genocide denial could had been successfully challenged in a Canadian courtroom. For example, mass sales of Diana Johnstone's Srebrenica Genocide denial book in Canada (Fool's Crusade: Yugoslavia, NATO and Western Delusions) constituted good cause for legal action. However, disorganized Bosnian community did nothing to challenge this Srebrenica genocide denial book (although, it's not too late to do something). As a result - copies of Diana Johnstone's book can be freely purchased from many bookstores and even borrowed from most libraries in Canada.
.
Currently, a number of European countries have laws against public Holocaust denial (Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Switzerland, etc), including Germany and Austria. Hopefully, one day, Serbia and other Balkan countries (including Bosnia-Herzegovina) will implement similar laws against Srebrenica Genocide denial.
.
If that day comes, it would trully be a huge step forward towards lasting peace in the Balkans and Europe.
