DID YOU KNOW?  -- Three years before the 1995 Srebrenica Genocide, Serbs torched Bosniak villages and killed at least 3,166 Bosniaks around Srebrenica. In 1993, the UN described the besieged situation in Srebrenica as a "slow-motion process of genocide." In July 1995, Serbs forcibly expelled 25,000 Bosniaks, brutally raped many women and girls, and systematically killed 8,000+ men and boys (DNA confirmed).

PHOTOS OF SERBIAN WAR CRIMES IN SARAJEVO (1992-95)

All photos downloaded from the Court Database of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia. Sarajevo was under the siege longer than Srebrenica. As a matter of the fact, the Siege of Sarajevo is the longest siege of a capital city in the history of modern warfare. Serb forces of the Republika Srpska and the Yugoslav People's Army besieged Sarajevo, the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, from 5 April 1992 to 29 February 1996 during the Bosnian Genocide. It is estimated that nearly 10,000 people were killed or went missing in the city, including over 1,500 children. An additional 56,000 people were wounded, including nearly 15,000 children. Both, former Serb leader Radovan Karadzic and General Ratko Mladic are on trial for the siege of Sarajevo and genocide in several municipalities in Bosnia-Herzegovina, including Prijedor, Zvornik, Srebrenica and Bratunac. Viewer discretion advised.
